Forgive me if some of these questions have already been answered, I'm relatively new to the hobby and I may not be looking for the correct terminology.
I finished my first build, a 450 quad, using the following equipment:
Multistar 800kv motors
30 amp DYI BLHeli esc's
Pixhawk Flight Controller
Frsky X8R receiver with a Taranis
10x4.5 props
5200 mah 3 cell
I'm experiencing 2 issues I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction on.
1. When taking off in Loiter flight mode (haven't noticed it in Stabilize) when I am revving up the motors, when I get to about 40-50%, the motors seem to wind down momentarily, not completely, but just as if I pushed the throttle back down momentarily, just for half a second, then they spin back up very quickly and it starts to lift off. I don't experience any drop off or anything during flight, only during the initial spin up. This is occurring consistently.
2. I've had an issue occur twice now, which may be related to Issue 1, during the initial takeoff, as I'm spinning up the motors, I suddenly lose the ability to communicate with the copter, or at least it appears that way. The RSSI readings are normal, signal strength appears fine, but it will not respond to the throttle anymore. The copter then starts revving the engines up and down even with throttle at zero. The first time it revved up and down then stayed at the same rate, thankfully not enough to lift off. The second time it revved up and down a couple times then flipped itself over. I have to try and get to it and pull the power to stop it, I'm never able to reestablish control. After resetting it will work fine. It's happened to me twice in the last week, and it's very disconcerting.
I apologize if any terminology is incorrect or if I left out any pertinent information, I am only a few months into the hobby. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I'm hoping there are just some settings I need to tweak, I get a bit intimidated looking at the mile long list of parameters the pixhawk has to offer and am hesitant to mess with anything I don't fully understand. Or potentially a wiring issue or short? Any guidance I can get from you guys who know your stuff is greatly appreciated!
Happy Holidays!
