    My first drone meet-up

I have moved so its been a long time since I have flown. I found a drone club on FB and was able to attend a very small meet-up of about 7 people. All were nice and video and photographer enthusiasts. there were no crashes as everyone went through about 2 batteries each.

Loose or missing prop warning. Would not respond from 3300ft away!

Had a scare today. Got a loose or missing prop warning some 3300 feet from launch. The drone would not respond to the controller but the return home function worked properly. Luckily I was able to control it on landing or it would have ended up in my tree!.

Been so long I almost forgot how to arm the thing.

Partially because I have had so many different drones. Anyway, I finally was able to get in some flight time.

HELP! Futaba binds with R7006SB but not the R7008SB it came with.

I cant figure it out, but since I have two R7008SB's that will NOT work even after getting the green light show they have binded or linked while my cheaper R7006 SB does, I figure it is something I am doing. There is always a chance neither of my eBay 7008SB work and both were purchased broken.

Cheapo range extender got me 1000 extra feet.

Flew my Phantom until I lost contact, then threw on the range extender and got about 1000 feet more of contact. Lots of variables but it did work.

4 crashes in 1 minute video. The ones I have caight on film

You have to have a good sense of humor and look at the bright side, now I get to build another one. Ok, easier said than done. These are my crashes I have caught on video.

All props on backwards. Ooops. My eBay deal of the year video!

I think I got the eBay deal of the year ($456 total). It was advertised as never flown and it appears to be true. There were no real scratches but just a thin layer of dust as if it had been sitting for a while. I plugged it into the computer and setup everything for my Futaba 14 and it flew...

Got a new toy. Need help identifying a part on it??

I bought a Tarot T810 off of eBay for a good price. It came with some nice Parts but on the very end of the booms there appears to be some sort of capacitor looking device. The ESC's are hobbywing platinum pro's 40 amps, and the Mystery device is the black thing next to it on the very end...

1st flight since the Paradise fire started. Air is still unhealthy in the SF area

This was my first flight since the wildfire in Paradise California started. The air some 150 miles away in the SF Bay Area is still smokey and listed as sometimes hazardous to unhealthy. I have been wearing a mask for days but feel guilty complaining about it after what the poor people of...

And again, almost crashed another one. Has to be the transmitter.

I don't know what the problem is. Recently, all of my drones seem to do what they want. Some start out ok, but then start acting erratically. The common part among all the drones is the transmitter. We will see if that is the issue next week. I just ordered a Futaba 14SG transmitter.

Crashed another quad! Could it be the transmitter? Help.

I went for over a year without an issue and then bombs away. I have had a series of crashes. I did have a bad battery but don't know if that was it. I could get flight times of over 22 minutes without issue but sometimes the copters would act gittery for no reason, and this was on several...

eBay deal of the month I think. DJI F550 ARF & 2 new FC's for $176

Got a pretty good deal on eBay. I think it is a good deal. The auction was for a DJI Flame Wheel F550 ART, just add your own remote, and lots of spare parts including 2 brand new in the box flight controllers, one of which I needed for a future project, lots of props and spare frame parts.

Bought one of them cheap eBay Chinese gimbals for my GH3. Not too bad...

The jello effect may be my fault since I have not balanced these props and the gimbal was loosely mounted. Still pretty darn good for $284 bucks.

The Best Syma X5C Music Video Ever... And probably the only.

I made this a while ago but edited myself out and turned it into a music video.

Surfers, birds, and some truly beautiful scenery.

This video was shot over two mornings. Both mornings the fog was almost perfect. This video was made from about 20 minutes of footage. It was shot with an old Phantom 3 Advanced that for sure will be plummeting into the ocean soon.

1st flight with a Pixhawk FC and my rebuilt Tarot 650 Iron Man

This was my first flight with my rebuilt Tarot Iron Man 650, and the first time I have flown using the Pixhawk flight controller. It is very different from the Naza's I am use to flying. The "Loiter" flight mode is really mellow, but when I put it in "Sport" mode I got a surprise. It was very...
