First Quadcopter build started - video diary

I'll look into adding SONAR. My Parrot has it, but the controller probably can't apply the return data fast enough, so it isn't worth much on that platform.

I would be interested to know how your sonar unit does at the higher limit of its range. Will it hover and hold at 6 meters? And what mode do you use? If altitude hold, is APM smart enough to cut out the sonar and use only baro/GPS above a certain point?

I've really only heard of interference related to things that radiate a lot of power, like the ESCs or main battery cable (or FPV tx). It's pretty common to build FPV "modules" with an OSD and camera switch in close proximity with no issues.

    Did this ever get resolved?

When you pulled the DVR guts out, my first thought was you ditched your shielding and that DVR would dump all over your other gear, so it may be good you decided to stick with it!

Is this what you're experiencing? Apparently this guy tilted it down a little. I think I'd look for a different camera.

It's odd the TR1 darkens the ground. I've seen many videos from them that look good. Maybe there is an adjustment? That doesn't look like captured FPV footage, but I can't imagine the realtime video is very different from what gets recorded.

Good setup. Are you still able to use a neck strap to relieve the weight? Seems like you may need to extend and move the attachment point to the base of the antenna for this rig. Have you noticed any range loss from having an RF noise emitter so close to the radio antenna? It won't be long...

13 year old quad need help (urgent plz)!

If you bought the "super clean" servo leads, you connect the one with three wires to channel 1 on the receiver and the top-left three-pin connection on the controller. Be careful to get the (black) ground lead to the outside on the KK2, and bottom on the Turnigy receiver. Then you connect the...

    New build, FPV problems

I think 1080p 60fps overloads many video viewer programs' ability to decode. They're just written badly.

    New build, FPV problems

Video recording requires not only a micro-SD marked as class 10 but actual working as class 10. A lot of them are right on the edge, or only a few test up to speed. What memory card do you have in the GoPro now? As for compensation for your services, I think that should always be what you're...

Beginner's Hubsan X4: Difficult to keep it at a certain height

"But I find it really difficult to keep it at a certain height, especially when I use the left stick to make it rotate left or right." That says to me that altitude changes with yaw. But no matter. I hope he's finding success with the Hubsan.

    Long Range FPV

Have a friend at the road block call you on your cell where you can launch your quad. And implode is the correct term, but that generally doesn't throw debris more than 300 feet at most, and that's tiny stuff that doesn't get far off the ground.

Beginner's Hubsan X4: Difficult to keep it at a certain height

I haven't flown a Hubsan. Every small quad I have flown has been fairly miserable. Maybe they've all been bad examples or defective in some way. I flew six different micros or nanos in the store and I couldn't hover any of them and neither could the guy selling them. He got close, but his...

    Long Range FPV

Why in the hell does an unmanned vehicle need to stay a quarter of a mile away? Are they imploding it, or EXploding it? You really want to get that shot from around 500 feet. If building implosions aren't an ideal subject for a quad, I don't know what is. I hope you're getting some footage...

13 year old quad need help (urgent plz)!

The pins on the left of the board are your inputs. Those on the right are outputs. The bottom of the board is where the four buttons are. So you connect your receiver to the KK2 as shown in this picture: In the setup menu on your Turnigy, it should tell you which channels are mapped to which...

    Long Range FPV

I think it would work better with the quad a little lower, where you'd want it to follow you while mountain biking.

    Long Range FPV

The only way this can really work is if there is a tracking antenna on the quad, locked onto a signal on the ground, or a tracking antenna on the ground picking up a signal from the quad and then sending corrective instructions to the quad. It may just be easier to put a GoPro on a long pole!

I love that 3D flying rig. I can imagine it gets shots that cannot be had any other way. I think OFM Only Flying Machines does stuff that big, but maybe not 3D.
