    LaTrax Alias Quad.

I have been flying my Syma X5C-1 for a couple of weeks now and it has been a great starter quad. Coming from r/c planes i am a bit more used to twitchy controls and movements that mimic what i am inputting on the sticks. The Syma fell far from this in my opinion but it is an amazingly stable...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Alias has arrived and almost immediately trumped the Syma X5C-1! It is twitchy and just itching to rip away into the sky like a demon! I think the X5C-1 was a great quad to start with and i will continue to fly it and practise as i want to try out the camera and videos. I will update with pics...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

After a few flights i am starting to notice a few things and would love to know what i am doing wrong or if it is the flight characteristics of the X5C-1. In LOW mode: When i go in one direction and then want to change, there is always a large arc at the end. How can i flatten this so as not to...

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

Moving on from the short derail... Flight times from this mornings outing: 4 battery packs used, one original 500mAh and 3 650mAh. Stock battery - 10 minutes exactly. All done on LOW and just basic flying with direction changes, a few flips for fun and just general stuff. 650mAh pack #1 - 16:50...

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

I read "expected" 8 hours. So many variables in there that could account for more or less flight time depending on how the quad is handled. That is how I read it.

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

Next time I go out I will start my timer but definitely not getting 8 minutes... And it is not balls to the wall flying, pretty sedate and still learning. Will be going out again in the weekend, weather defendant and will time it to be more accurate.

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

I have a few 650mAh batteries that last a good 20 minutes. The stock battery lasts about 17 minutes with all the extra stuff removed from the quad.

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

10 grams less to fly around with! As a noob I found it to greatly increase my flight times even with numerous flips.

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

I was amazed at how much longer my flight times were when I removed the camera, prop guards and the landing gear!!! Way more responsive and switching over to HIGH was amazing but heart pounding at the same time!! A very quick and easy mod to turn this pretty tame flier into a very fun and fast...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Awesome flights tonight!! Weather was perfect and the quad was amazing!! I stripped the prop guards off, then the extra landing gear came off as well. The camera is still off for now and when i get it reconnected i will make different struts to hold the camera off the ground. With the stock...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Update time! So the X5C-1 finally arrived!! Spare batteries arrived before quad, so they got charged up and waited patiently. The original battery is 500mAh and i bought 2 650mAh spares hoping for longer flight times. First things first! Being a newbie i installed the prop guards and removed...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Videos... Well maybe not yet! First few flights were very blah... All my fault i figured out later! Second day i decided i needed more room to practise in so i moved into the garage. Double car, no ceiling so it was ideal! Awesome flights! Very stable, able to do flips and rolls, turn left and...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Since my Syma is being shipped and it is the weekend after all... I decided to visit a hobby store in town! My plan was an Estes Proto X to fly inside but when i arrived they had a choice!!! So i went with the KODO Dromida micro quad with camera. Bought a spare battery as well. Batteries are...

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Thanks! I did order some spare parts like extra rotors and a few 650mAh battery packs. I was not sure about the motors but will look into that and also see if there are any upgraded motors available. Great link! I will be spending a lot of time there reading and learning.

    Ventures into the 4th dimension!

Finally a forum dedicated to all types of quads! Last forum i joined and asked what a good beginners quad would be, i was answered with a custom built FPV drone racer style beast! A bit out of a newbies league i would imagine... Anyway, moving on! I ordered a Syma X5C-1 today! There are both...
