Lost my drone today...what inexpensive drone has a good radio distance capability?

I wonder if you looked at the tiny Tello drone which is powered by DJI and has a camera etc. An excellent beginner's drone and for indoors to. Can even be programmed. I think that's about US$100. I have seen warning about flying near cell phone towers too which can upset your flight. Any radio...

Lost my drone today...what inexpensive drone has a good radio distance capability?

No - you do not have to use a 5G phone with a 5G drone. I have used a Galaxy A21s for manyy months with my KiaOne Max drone and no issues. As long as your 4G phone has the compatible wifi 802.11 requirements. You must check this before buying the drone. A number of the cheaper 5G 4K GPS drones...

Practical info on transmit and receive signals - controller to drone and drone to controller

Ok thanks. I'm not wanting to dig into the protocol so much as to know how they are using a single antenna for TX and RX. I wonder if the data streams are more like packet radio and TCP/IP which I used to experiment with in my HAM days, where there is a send and receive of packets of data on...

Practical info on transmit and receive signals - controller to drone and drone to controller

Hi Wafflejock. We chatted a while back re backing up drone software. This drone and controller are proprietry so there's no info or software available. Chinese budget drone. Best I can do is to show the chip codes on the circuit boards.

Practical info on transmit and receive signals - controller to drone and drone to controller

Please explain to me (or point me to a practical link) the transmit/receive sequence between a controller in ones hand and a drone. Hopefully with good explanatory pictures. My budget drone is a $300 5G FPV with a 2.4GHz controller frequency for the basic hand controller. There is no display...

Backup and Copy of the firmware from one drone to another (ie Factory Reset)

Thank you - I think you've answered a lot of questions I have had in my head on how these fancy drones work. My Kai One Pro, I think, like a number of other budget drones coming out, have AI facilities that are trying to emulate what the DJI models have built into theirs (and pretty well too)...

Backup and Copy of the firmware from one drone to another (ie Factory Reset)

Wafflejock, can I ask you a question re the wifi access to a drone. This friend who bricked his Kai One drone, he says that after the alternate app updated is firmware the drone went through a reboot and then he could no longer even see the wiffi connection to the drone via any app. Is there...

Backup and Copy of the firmware from one drone to another (ie Factory Reset)

Thanks for this. I'll take a look at that st-link software. I use both openSuse Linux and also Windows - I'll probably load it in Windows to see what's in the software once it loads. Yes, there's not much I could do with the software once it's downloaded, except to keep it as a backup in case I...

Backup and Copy of the firmware from one drone to another (ie Factory Reset)

Thanks for your reply and details. Our friend who mistakenly updated his firmware has since got his money back from eBay and bought himself a DJI - so I don't need to try and do this memory copy and reflash. However, it's something that interests me anyway. I was a mainframe and mini computer...

Backup and Copy of the firmware from one drone to another (ie Factory Reset)

Can anyone give me advice on what software I could use to backup the firmware on my drone (KaiOne Pro}? We have a group working out how to use this drone as the manuals are shocking. The drone is very stable, has many features and flies well, even in moderate winds. Working with the developers...
