You nailed it, Jeff! That's the fun for me too :) If one can learn to master theses 'toys', one will be a better pilot as they progress through the ranks IMHO. That's one of the reasons I think I buy some of these inexpensive models impulsively when I see them on flash sale for a decent...

Haha I dig it, could be inspiration for a first build! Look forward to your progress and test flights!

Well I couldn't upload my pics, keep getting an error message the files are too large. Posting from an iPad. Any suggestions how to upload them directly from my device? I don't have a pic hosting service and would prefer not to sign up for one lol.. ETA - prob fixed

Haha you're definitely hooked brutha! The pegboard sounds like a good idea in your case as you already have an organized workshop / workspace. I've seen some pics on rcgroups and YT vids using that kind of set up. For mine, I keep them front and center on display in my living room of course...

When I say 'toy' I'm only referring to 'toy' grade as opposed to 'hobby' grade models. I still haven't built my own custom multi yet, and I'm certainly not calling them 'toys' as a means of disparaging anyone. Sorry if you took it otherwise. I agree 10o% it takes skill (and practice) to fly...

    Toy quad obsession / addiction

So I've been into this hobby for a little over a year now after receiving a Syma X5 as an Xmas gift in Dec 2015, and I've been hooked ever since to say the least!! I still consider myself a beginner (or an advanced beginner lol) as I'm only flying LOS (no FPV) and only flying majority toys with...

I can totally relate , LOL. I think this topic deserves it's own thread...

Jeff, it sounds like you're making some wise choices! The X6 plus the little JJRC should give you the 'adrenaline' kick I think you're looking for, and both will help develop your skills before you spend the $$ on your first brushless. They're both quicker than the X5 and X8 :D

Back in the air after being grounded for almost a year!

Congrats, Zentg! I've lurked on and off this forum since Jan 2016 before finally deciding to register, and I've followed many of your posts from the get go.. It seems you've come a long way, and it's good to hear you're back on a positive path :)

    MJX Bugs 3

You're welcome! You're also brave flying an X5 out to 100 yards ~ I've lost one that way first starting out ;) Honestly, I don't feel the need to fly these toys that far without GPS and RTH (I'm not flying any FPV yet). I wear glasses and my eyesight isn't the best either, and 300' is a pretty...

    MJX Bugs 3

Preface: TL;DR = YES buy the Bugs I'm not the OP, but if you feel you're ready to move up to a brushless, I believe the B3 is a solid choice! My first quad was also an X5C (gift to me Xmas Dec 2015) and hands down, that is the BEST trainer one can learn on IMHO (there's a reason why so many...

YIKES !!! My EOS is a micro, your Phantom may have taken your ear off :p And ArmyVet, thank you for your service!

    MJX Bugs 3

That's why I bought two ;) (technically three, but one was an Xmas gift to my brother). I've only gotten about a dozen flights on mine so far but I love this quad. As others have mentioned it's very smooth and has decent power, and it seems well constructed and durable.. I think it's a solid...

I've nicked myself in the ear with a little 2S RC logger EOS and it drew blood lol

    Things are changing fast...

I've been into this hobby for a little over a year now playing with the toy stuff (and a couple brushless RTF), so my answer may not be the best informed.. That said, I'd recommend a FlySky TH9X. Can be had for roughly $80USD from BG. With the multi protocol module (currently on sale for...
