    Syma x8hg

Have you set the trim settings? Also, there's a calibration process to reset the quad's board. Set the quad down on a level service. Turn on the quad. Lights should blink. Turn on the transmitter and bind it to the quad like you normally would by moving the throttle stick up and then down. To...

JJRC H31 a cheap smooth flyer review and waterproof test

I just received one of these (the green version) earlier in the week and have only flown it three times. Hoping to work it out more this weekend. Seems to be a great little sport flyer. Almost on par with the Nihui u807 although I think I’ll always like the Nihui better. When you kick it up to...

Smya X8G Highly Updated and Improved User Manual

Well, not always. Have had ~ 30+ orders with GB over last several years and I’d estimate average delivery time to be about two weeks, sometime less. I’ve never had an order take a month. But maybe I'm lucky. Peeps seem to sleep on EBay. Sure, there are problem sellers out there but if you shop...

    Syma X5SW Weak motor?

If you've flown "30-40" flights with your Syma having to swap out a motor is not unusual at all. Especially if you're using larger batteries than the stock versions that come with the quad. I have had 4-5 different Syma models through the years (from the X5c on up) and have had to change motors...

    Mtech sky drone v2

Actually, many hobby grade quads are exactly that way. No on/off switch. Plugging battery in/pulling out is how you control power.

Great Info About US FAA Regulations for Multirotors

Well, yeah, definitely if one is out there posting vids. But I’d also contend that if somebody’s flying, say, an X5c-1 at over 400 feet they have bigger issues than the FAA. That’s probably a flyaway -- and -- adios quad! ;)

Great Info About US FAA Regulations for Multirotors

And just the usual reminder that the new FAA regs apply to commercial/business users and not Joe Doaks flying his Syma in the back yard. Lots of confusion out there.

    syma x5c camera problems

Agreed. Especially if you’re using the card that came with the quad. I had all sorts of issues with video on my first X5C-1 and picked up a better quality SD card. Works fine.

    basic quadcopter with reasonable camera

Well, I guess one quick point to make (if I'm correct on this) is that the JJRC quad features FPV and the Syma (at least this particular model) does not. Totally different quads.

Sketchy Banggood US warehouse availability for Nihui U807?

As mentioned above, looks like you can get one on the Bay for <$40. There's one seller who has the quad that comes with a transmitter but no camera. For me that's fine. This is a snappy sport flyer and having a camera is pretty much a waste of time.

Sketchy Banggood US warehouse availability for Nihui U807?

If so, that's a good deal. However, I suspect that many of those are BNFs. I think our guy here is looking for the full package.

Sketchy Banggood US warehouse availability for Nihui U807?

I’d pull the trigger and just order it. Last quad I bought from BG coming out of the US warehouse I had in 7-8 days.

Sketchy Banggood US warehouse availability for Nihui U807?

A couple of things: Yeah, great quad. I bought two of them during the recent gearbest flash sale. A second one for me and one for my brother. That price was amazing. As far as banggood goes, if they show it as available from the US warehouse and you can successfully put one in your cart and go...

    basic quadcopter with reasonable camera

The Symas are tough to beat especially if you’re a beginning flier. Really decent prices, lots of choices on where to buy, and replacement parts are readily available. The camera quality is definitely on the lower end but it doesn’t sound like you’re overly concerned about that. Suggestion...

    Syma X5HC-1

Well, that didn't take long! :) Thanks for that.

New guy's first post offers solution to Syma X5C-1 issue

As long as we’re sharing rescue stories thought I’d mention these items which have really helped me. Picked up a couple of those telescoping aluminum utility poles. They open up to 12 feet so combined with a an 8 foot step ladder you can reach quite a few stranded quads. And if you duct tape...

Follow up FYI n FAA rules concerning UAS...

Thanks for posting. And as mentioned in another thread below important to emphasize that the new FAA rules govern commercial operators, not hobbyists. Lots of confusion out there.

FAA’s New Part 107 Drone Regulation- What Drone Operators Need to Know

As usual lots of noise to cut through here. Very confusing. Was just reading a couple of press releases about this guidance which was posted today by the FAA. Note that these new rules apply to COMMERCIAL drone operators only!

    First Drone for a Newb!?

Another vote for the Syma X5c-1. Can't go wrong with these. Good to learn on, decent flyer, relatively inexpensive and LOTS of spare parts easily available (you'll need 'em!).

New guy's first post offers solution to Syma X5C-1 issue

Another tip and one that you may already know about but thought I'd mention it anyway. Before every flight (and especially after a crash or hard landing) reset the quad (calibrate) by moving both sticks downward to the bottom right corners. The quad lights should blink for a few seconds and then...
