How to tell whether buying Syma X5C or X5C-1??

Newer version has the Red X followed by the Black 5C on the body of the quad. And the instruction manual definitely should say "2" The newer version is commonly referred to as the X5C-1. Great beginnner quad to learn to fly on. Edit: Btw, that link to Amazon is a Syma "BNF" version. Don't...

    What first drone to buy

It looks like you already picked up the Syma X5c-1 (a great quad to learn to fly on) but I'll cast another vote for the JJRC H31. Really a fun little quad, easy to fly, and the price is right. Check them out. I bought 3 of them last week to give as gifts!

    Syma X5C or X5HW/C?

I've had several of the venerable x5Cs (learned to fly on 'em) and also picked up the X5HW with altitude hold. The hold feature is nice but I don't really see it as a compelling enough feature to get one. It is handy for holding the quad nice and steady as a camera platform but we're not exactly...

Stuck in a tree, finally recovered

Same thing here. Treed a JJRC H31 about two weeks ago and it finally came down the other day in the high winds. Battery is toast but this little quad runs like a top (thanks to extras lipos on hand) . Usually check the props carefully and add the mentioned light drop of oil to the motors. All is...

    X5SC problem

See response(s) above. On the transmitter there are little trim buttons next to the sticks. Just push them up/down or right/left as appropriate until you see them "center" on the LCD screen. Edit: Have you checked You Tube for instructional videos on the Syma? There are countless videos out...

    syma x5sc wont fly backwards

Agreed. To calibrate: Insert properly charged battery into quad. Set quad on level surface and turn on quad. Turn on transmitter and bind to quad (left stick fully up and down). Pull BOTH sticks down and to the right at the same time. Quad lights should blink for a few seconds. Calibration is...

    Newbie Needs Help & Advice

Yes, that’s the procedure to calibrate. Did you actually go through all the steps? Insert charged battery and set quad on level surface. Turn on quad and then turn on transmitter. Bind the transmitter to quad (left stick all the way and then all the way back). To calibrate pull both sticks down...

    Syma X8C battery won't charge

Been there. More than once. Lost a few Symas in trees, including one that was up there for about three weeks. Rain, cold weather, wind. Finally got it down and it worked like a charm although the battery was toast.

Smya X8G Highly Updated and Improved User Manual

The fine tuning with the trim controls as discussed above is always good advice but I don’t suspect that’s your main problem. You need to “calibrate” the quad as follows: Set quad on a level surface. Turn on the quad. Turn on the transmitter and bind it to the quad as usual (throttle stick up...

    Kamikaze Syma

Great! Glad to hear it. I do that process before every flight. And especially after a crash or hard landing.

    Headlesss

Agreed. And in all seriousness to some of the newbies out there: just skip the manuals. Most of them are close to worthless. For many quads -- especially mainstream brands like the Symas -- there are some great tutorial and trouble-shooting vids on YT. Check them out. Some are better than...

    Kamikaze Syma

Trying doing the “calibration” settings. Set it on a level surface. Turn on quad. Turn on transmitter and pair it with the quad (left stick full up and down). Then pull both sticks down to the lower right. The quad lights should blink for a few seconds. See if that helps.

    JJRC 1000a Prop Help

Hi All, Was given a like-new JJRC 1000a from a friend of a friend. Appears to be in good working condition except it came w/ no props. I picked up a few sets of correct replacement props and for the life of me cannot get them in the right configuration so quad will fly properly. I have two red...

Exactly. Remember, the new FAA regs are **primarily** aimed at commercial drone use. You'll be fine.

Syma x5 - loose battery connection?

I have a handful of these 750's for my Syma. No problems with the connector plugs (if anything, the battery is tough to insert into the holder). However, some vendors were known to ship these with reversed polarity plugs for the X5. I know that’s not your problem but just remember reading about...

Somebody's Syma landed in my friend's goat pen...

RE: Lost quads. Recall a thread here several months ago about putting small adhesive stickers on quads with a “Return To” name and address. Really not a bad idea. I’ve had my share of flyaways close to home and have wondered if they were ever found.

    Calibration Issues

OK, so you're 0 for 2 with this particular quad. Sorry to hear it but sounds it's like time to consider another quad to -- as you say -- get your feet wet Here are two suggestions in roughly the same price range: - Syma X5c-1 - JJRC H31

Sort of a Hi I'm the new guy thread

+ 1 on the JJRC H31. Mine arrived last week and it's a great little sporty quad. Very durable and fun. Price is right, too. Grabbed one for $29, shipped off the Bay. I may buy another. ;)

    Syma x8hg

On all of my Symas I just about always do it as a matter of routine before each flight. Takes a few seconds. It's especially helpful to do this after a crash or when the quad otherwise gets knocked around. The trims are the little buttons next to he control sticks. Should be four off them. You...
