For the vibration issues, I would try something like this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__40617__Vibration_Damping_Balls_300g_61_RED_8_PCS_.html they seem to work well for vibration dampening. You could use those(or something similar) instead of the nylon to keep vibrations down.
