Yup! Flew Estes and Century rockets. Memorized the "Technical Section" of the Estes catalog. Member of NAR. I've been 6-years-old for 55 years now, so I might be the age of some of the kids you were sponsoring. Lost interest in rockets when I got an R/C system, then flew R/C for years before...

And, of course, you need to know the distance. I had the wooden one from Estes.

Used to fly model rockets and RC airplanes. The local airport provided a flying field on the edge of the airport, just a hundred feet or so from a runway. They kept it mowed for us. Of course, "It's just a matter of time before one of these things brings down an airliner."
