Hello everyone, I'm Dan.
I've been into RC since the early 1980's. Pretty much everything RC related; cars, trucks, boats, helis, planes, rockets, multi-rotors, C/L and some other things. Love them all but flight has always been my favorite.
Learning to hover in 1985 was such an accomplishment back then, especially without a tail gyro. I did my first FPV flight during that time. I used a terrible camera out of a nanny cam bear with barely 150ft range. I removed it from the bear and mounted it to my Schluter Champion. I was learning to hover then and I was curious to see what I could get from the cam. Started out just recording to a VCR and watching the playback after the flight but at some point I decided that I could hover from the image. Hovering around, watching the TV was pretty cool but once I started flying forward the very limited range was useless so I boxed the project until the early 90's when I could afford better video gear. Although I was using the old stuff on my Tamiya Frog buggy. Oh what fun back them.
