Why are people underexposed in video?

Can anyone give me a tip on how to expose people better? Do I have to shoot in manual? I've searched all over YouTube and Google, but I can't find any information on how to get better footage of people. For me, most of the time they're just black blobs.

If anyone has any ideas, it'd really help me out.

Are you shooting from a quadcopter? Good luck on that. Quad cameras come in varying levels of resolution. The better the camera, the better the image. If you're looking for information regarding camera use in general, let me tell you this, any camera that shoots an image with the background brighter than the foreground is going to result in a "cameo" type foreground image. There must be light of the foreground to overcome the glare of the background. You might refer to the following web site for more information

Can you give us a little more detail on the quad/camera you are using, distance, etc.? Also maybe a sample photo. But to make a long story short, the best solution is to shoot photos in raw format and correct the color and lighting to your heart's content using an application like Adobe Lightroom.

I leave further comments about Quad Cameras to the other forum members with experience in that area. I, myself do not own a quad that has a camera that is worth comparing to. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements, which is a good as Adobe Photoshop, only less expensive. As RENOV8R or Mozquito aboupt the Quad Camera solutions.

What distance does this happen at.
& what camera are we talking about here. But has it a WDR wide dynamic range.
Most camera setting have this turned off as default. This might help with background light & even it out a bit.
Other than that I would need it in front of me to have a fiddle with.
