If it ain't broke, don't fix it??? You kidding?
Got my "coolplay" motors last week. My blades are balanced, shimmed and have almost eliminated "jello".
Decided this morning to change out motors. Somethings that get mentioned in mod vids that just ain't so........
It's theoretically possible to change out the motors without separating the upper and lower shell. In practice.........well your better off doing the separation. First the plastic drive gear is going to be in the way of one of the two screws. Second(this was my problem), if you use motors with different mounting screws, you can't get the old ones out or the new ones in because of the magnets in the motor.
The Coolplay motors are supposed to be direct swaps which I suppose technically they are.......but in my case the wire color coding is opposite of the original motors. Surprise, surpise, surprise........get it back together, everything all lined up etc, etc. Bind the Tx and arm the motors...............my props are spinning backwards..........
Started to get upset.........then remembered the cardinal rule of "hotrodding".........no matter what it is your hotrodding.........YOU gotta make it work...................
Whether it's pulling float bowls on a Holley Dominator numerous times in a day to dial in the jets you need(I used 98s on all 4 corners my last dragster) or openning up your quad to rotate drive assemblies..............it's all the same. You gotta make it work or you gotta hire someone to make it work for you.
Oh, the most important part of hotrodding.............is sharing with other hotrodders. One of the most enjoyable things I've found in the quad community............it's like the old drag race community..........most everyone is willing to share what works and what doesn't...........
