I note that the more expensive/professional copters come without propeller guards, but the entry-level models do (tend to).
For a newbie the benefits of these guards are obvious, with a higher likelihood of crashes etc.
What I don't know for certain (I can have a guess) is why the more sophisticated machines lack them. Sure, for the experienced, the incidence of crashes is reduced, but the likelihood is never entirely eliminated.
My guess is that their omission (a) cuts down on production cost and (b) cuts down on weight. I suspect that the second is the more significant factor. Is there something else? Do these machines come with propeller guards as an optional extra?
