Newbie here looking to build or buy a drone, but I have little hands on experience and looking to get some feedback and potentially find people to work with on my way to making the decision of which direction to go.
A bit about myself, I’m an artist mainly working with video, photography and sculpture. I’ve done art exhibitions around the world in museums and galleries, mainly non-profit based cultural venues but I do artwork in the studio. In that smaller work I do a lot of work using photogrammetry and CNC machining, 3D printing, etc, but also just working with my hands using more traditional methods.
Since the pandemic I’ve been focusing on creating virtual environments, so for the reasons of joining this forum I’m particularly interested in drone-based photogrammetry, but also documenting sites on video. I’m interested in documenting sites that have some historical or architectural relevance, and the idea is to make them freely available to people who can’t travel or have other accessibility issues, but I’m still working out how to deliver this content.
Particularly interested in using drones for air based photogrammetry and wondering if anyone in Socal would like to collaborate on capturing a couple locations. I can cover expenses (gas, lunch, permits), and collaborators will get credit, but I’m not really looking to hire someone because the purpose is more community driven than profit oriented and the funds just aren’t there.
