Brushless motor has grinding sound when rotating

Finally found what it was, there was a small piece of metal that was stuck between 2 of the magnets. Once I removed it the bell was moving freely again My question now is would this have caused much internal damage after I forcefully rotated it?

Brushless motor has grinding sound when rotating

Hi guys, Recently I tried to move my components onto a new frame. As I was mounting the motors I noticed that one of them wasn't spinning like the others and was making a grinding sound. I forced a few rotations manually but eventually, the motor would not budge, even with a heap of force. I...

    Universal head tracking modules

Hi all, Does anyone know of any head tracking modules that can be installed on goggles? Currently, have Eachine ev800D which doesn't have head tracking so was hoping there was a module that I could attach to the goggles (im assuming this would work like a gyro) This would then translate...

What to look for when buying antennas RHCP vs LHCP pagoda and panel

Just range in particular, not that great with what I currently have. On diversity at 200mw it was only 100m before it started to get fuzzy. I've heard the farvew or realacc triple feed patch antenna are great for longer ranges. I would also like a matching antenna on the googles as with what is...

What to look for when buying antennas RHCP vs LHCP pagoda and panel

Need some clarification as to the difference between RHCP and LHCP Currently, on my VTX I have an RHCP pagoda antenna. On my goggles (eachine ev800D) I have the default antennas - attached is an image: A) On the left of the goggles, there is a "sting pad" which is like a panel antenna B) On...

How to set altitude hold in cleanflight?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows how to correctly setup the altitude hold feature in clean flight? I am running an SP pro racing f3 Deluxe clone board on my quad. The deluxe version of this board has a Barometer, so it should be compatible for altitude hold. The Barometer is working...

Safe to swap connectors on Li-Po batteries?

So i bought a couple of batteries from hobbyking and didn't realise that they had xt-30 connectors. This doesn't suit my current build which has an xt-60 connector on the power lead. I have a few spare xt-60 connectors lying around, would it be safe to swap these over on the xt-30 batteries...

Anyone know what flight controller this is? Possible SP Pro Racing fake?

Hi guys, So I recently bought what I thought was a SP Pro Racing F3 Deluxe flight controller, but turns out I overlooked the purchase and believe this might be a fake/ clone/ something else completely. Attached is the image. The positions of the ports are a dead give away to me, can't...

    Beginner FPV parts and compatibility?

Awesome thanks, these are nice and reviews saying they are good entry level. The second-panel antenna is definitely a bonus over the cyclops. In terms of compatibility with a camera and VTX, will it work with any?

    Beginner FPV parts and compatibility?

Hi All, I am slowly completing my quad and have come to the point where I am scouting an FPV system, but having a little trouble understanding part compatibility As a beginner, I am not wanting to spend too much, but still want a lot of good features with the potential to upgrade later. In...

Motor and ESC caught fire... help!

Thanks, I think that's what happened. Just to clear my mind it wouldn't be the fact that I am powering my FC from the ESC via the Black/red/ yellow signal wire? I find it coincidental that this esc that went up in flames was the only of the four that was powering the the FC. Ive seen this as...

Motor and ESC caught fire... help!

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification of current draw on the ESC's, glad to know its safe to use my power board and I don't need to fish out too many new parts I just uploaded the image of the ESC. You can see that one of the black thingy's is clearly burnt out and 4 of the coils in the motor...

Motor and ESC caught fire... help!

Another thing I would like to know is if the PDB's "ESC output" current has any negative effect on the ESC's? The PDB sheet states 20amp continuous and 25amp burst.... does that mean its constantly feeding 20 amp to the ESC's? (Mine were only rated at 12 amp). If so I wasn't aware that there was...

Motor and ESC caught fire... help!

First thing I checked, I was using really short screws that barely caught to the initial set of threads in the motor I'll be using 5 x 4.5 x 3 props (dalprop cyclones). The models thrust sheet indicates these draw 10.6 so i'm assuming that will be safe?

HELP with setting up a servoless payload release system

Thanks, yes there is a mode on the Release that is indicated by a static red LED, but the device wouldn't responded when attempting to change modes. I worked it out in the end. I suspected the PDB to be faulty, so I swapped it out with the spare, hooked up all the ESC nodes and the receiver...

Motor and ESC caught fire... help!

So was just about to fly a build when I had the great idea to test out the motors (with no props) on the bench to see that everything was working before I took it to the park. I may have gotten a little too throttle happy because the front left motor started to smoke, then caught on fire... then...

HELP with setting up a servoless payload release system

Okay so I took your advice and tested it to first see if it is a radio- receiver problem. I connected the Release Mechanism --> X8R (channel 8 + same on radio) --> spare PDB (5v output) --> 3S battery, and it worked! No faults with the device or anything So I tried the same setup on my current...
