Hello!
I'm taking a shot at my first Quadcopter build. I've got a parts list in mind and I wanted to get some feedback, and get a few questions answered.
Turnigy Aerodrive 2822 1090kv motors with Gemfam 8045 props
Afro 20A ESCs
HobbyKing KK2.1.5 FCB
Zippy Flightmax 2200mAh 3S1P 25C Battery
and of course all of the shrink wrapping, adapters and accessories needed.
I went with the larger capacity ESC to leave room for future expansion, with not much added weight from the 10As, I thought it couldn't hurt.
I've read that a 2200mAh battery is a pretty optimal choice. However I'd prefer a longer flight time. But agility is important to me so I don't want anything very heavy. Anyone care to weigh in on this subject?
I plan on building my own frame, because it actually sounds really fun to me. I've looked up ideal prop spacing and clearances. Anyone have any experience/ pointers on this project? Or maybe some reasons why it's better to buy a pre-fab frame?
I'm also in between on what radio to buy. Currently an RC newb and really just have a history in amateur DIY, electronics and model building. So I'm not looking to break the bank on anything, but I'd also like something I can hold onto and use on different projects if I end up really enjoying the hobby. I'm looking at the Turnigy 9X and 9XRPro radios. About an $80 price difference in the radios (after factoring Tx module and Rx prices not included in the 9XRPro model).
