JJRC H8D or MJX Bugs 2

I have a Bugs 2 and it flies great! Very easy to fly for a beginnner and the return to home is nice if you lose orientation. Altitude hold and gps make the thing hover on its own. It is basically my first quad, and I'm actually looking at getting the Eachine Lizard 95 and some fpv goggles to...

Recommendations for best sub $250 drone for 11yr old

To be honest, I don't know. I'm just getting ready to pull the trigger on an ARFUN Pro 95 or Lizard 95 and transmitter and goggles. New to it myself. Couldn't hurt him for practicing and orientation LOS though.

If only you were on this side of the pond......Very fair. I don't think theres anybody around me that builds.

    component compatibility and choosing FC/transmitter

Yep, I looked them up. Thanks. So its just like adding diversity on goggles that didn't have it? Is that something you wear attached to the goggles then?

Recommendations for best sub $250 drone for 11yr old

Thats great to get your kids into the hobby! Awesome fun. I am pretty new to quadcopter and just got an MJX Bugs 2 on Friday. This thing is PERFECT for a young kid to learn with. It has a pretty decent camera, brushless motors, altitude hold and GPS which makes the thing pretty much fly...

Find Pilots near you. (Pilot database/map)

I'm a little over an hour Southwest of you. Near Sunbury, PA. Any flying fields in your area?

What's the immersionRC duo 5800diversity? Is that the vtx that goes on the quad?

    component compatibility and choosing FC/transmitter

Would be able to recommend any of the cheaper fpv goggles? Also, is the Flysky fs-i6x a decent transmitter to start with? I want one of those quads so bad! Lol

    Steppin it up a notch

Wow!!! Mad skills. I'm just in the process of figuring out what small quad like that size to get, or build. I'm totally new to this and haven't even bought my transmitter or fpv gear yet. I used to fly some smaller collective pitch helis' a few years ago, but was only able to do mostly sport...

    component compatibility and choosing FC/transmitter

I looked the tower up. It says receiver protocols it supports. Is Flysky one of them? Not sure if Flysky is SBUS or PPM or what. I'm totally new to anything more than bind n fly setups. It also says its for 170mm and up frames. Will it work on like a 125-150mm frame?

    component compatibility and choosing FC/transmitter

Thanks for the reply Rosco11!!! I'll check into that tower. Would definitely be an easier first build. I actually just installed Betaflight on my Mac. If I go 3s, I can still set the quad up to be a bit more docile until I get used to it, correct? What goggles do you use, and what are the...

    component compatibility and choosing FC/transmitter

Ok, thanks. I had thought of that, but was admittedly just trying to make it as easy as possible for my first build. I guess if I don't do well on my soldering with a AIO, it'll just cost more to replace what I screw up. Lol. You mentioned if one ESC dies. Does that mean you wouldn't get a...

    component compatibility and choosing FC/transmitter

Thanks for the reply! I really have no knowledge about the PCB or FC boards as well as Betaflight. I've just seen where most people seem to run that? I did also see an AIO FC/PCB. Are they any good, or easier for a first build? I'm also unsure what motors or ESC I need to look into for a...

Bugs 2 & Battery charge questions

Ouch! I have a few cables by my house I need to avoid too. Been lucky so far. BTW, I got my Bugs 2 and I ordered 2 bugs 3 batteries off of Amazon for about $30. All you need to do is put a couple large rubber bands around the battery lengthwise and it will fit in nice and snug and you've got...
